**First Appearance:** #book4 A massive star with three companions, a binary pair orbiting one another and in turn orbiting Rigel itself, and a dim little companion star far off in the void. The main star is known as Rigel Alpha. There are five planets orbiting Rigel Alpha. The two closest are airless, rocky, and radiation-scoured--one is earth-sized, the other is closer to the size of Mercury. The remaining three planets are all gas giants. Of the gas giants, one falls just short of being a star itself. [[Rigel Center]] orbits one of the gas giants.
